The Hoops, currently languishing at the bottom of the table, stunned Southampton 2-1 away from home to kickstart what many hope will be a strong final third. Loic Remy and Jay Bothroyd netted for QPR that afternoon on either side of Gaston Ramirez’s goal for the home side.

Sunderland came from 2-0 down to draw 2-2 with Fulham last weekend. The Black Cats seemed down and out at 2-0 down, but a soft penalty, converted by Craig Gardner and a second half goal, scored by Stephane Sessegnon saved them the blushes in front of their home supporters.

The reverse fixture between the two sides last weekend ended in a goalless stalemate. Given the recent form for both sides, a draw again would not be a result that suits either of them.

Sunderland will look to break their poor run of form with a win they travel to QPR this weekend.
