United beat West Bromwich Albion 2-0 on Saturday afternoon thanks to an own goal from Gareth McAuley and a superb second from Robin van Persie. The Red Devils lead the Premier League by seven points going into the New Year.

Phil Jones could make a return for United, who will still be without the services of star players like Wayne Rooney, Nani and Anderson against Latics. Danny Welbeck was given a chance to start against Albion with Van Persie on the bench and Ferguson may continue that policy against Wigan, considered weaker opposition in comparison to other teams.

Wigan beat Aston Villa 3-0 in their last game, but have found the going tough against Man Utd in recent times. Barring a 1-0 shock victory last year, the Latics have both lost and failed to score against United in their last six games.

It is the Latics vs the Red Devils as Wigan and Manchester United lock horns at the DW Stadium on Tuesday.
